How to deal with guilt (12).png

Join me for a gentle hour to learn more about the people-pleasing pattern, why we feel so guilty, and the tools you need to feel better about prioritising yourself.

Update: This is the workshop you may have seen advertised as happening live on Tuesday 23rd Nov. It's now available as a self-paced workshop.

This is for you if each time you manage to prioritise your needs, you feel like you've done something wrong.

You may know what it's like to feel this deep sense of 'badness' so well, that you'd prefer to avoid it altogether. Even if there's a personal cost.

Logically, you probably know you shouldn't feel guilty for looking after yourself.

But that doesn't make it easier to work through how uncomfortable you feel when you do.

Guilt becomes less of a barrier when we know what to do when it comes.

I'd love to introduce you to the resources you need to help you face - and not avoid - your discomfort, so you can finally start taking care of yourself.

Does this sound like you?

  • You worry that taking care of yourself will be harmful to others.

  • You overthink the potential impact of asking for what you need.

  • Taking care of others feels 'right', considering yourself feels 'wrong'.

  • You say "yes" to avoid how uncomfortable it feels to risk speaking your truth.

  • You worry that sharing how you feel makes you a burden to people around you.

  • You feel more comfortable looking after others than taking care of yourself.

"I’d highly recommend engaging with Elsie’s workshops and courses, they’ve been so helpful for me in so many ways, have given me an entirely new perspective on people pleasing and helped me identify and action the areas of my life where I need to set better boundaries".

Ryan | Attended 'What is people-pleasing' Workshop (June 2021) & 'The Boundaries Course' (October 2021)

This gentle, pre-recorded session covers:

- Why prioritising yourself feels so 'wrong' - you'll understand more about the people-pleasing pattern, so you can make sense of why it feels so uncomfortable to consider your needs.

- More about guilt as an emotion - you'll learn what guilt actually is - beneath what you already know, why you feel it and how to move from the 'unhealthy' form that blocks you, to the 'healthy' form that serves you.

- Tools to help you manage your guilt - you'll finish with practical resources to put into action next time you feel guilty, so you feel better equipped to follow-through with caring for yourself.

"I found Elsie’s Instagram account when I was doing a lot of reading around the subject of people pleasing...I booked on to her People Pleasing workshop, and it was so useful to have all the main points on the topic pulled together in such an accessible and succinct way. It was really comforting to find that I was not alone as there were so many other people attending the workshop who felt exactly the same as me.

I truly believed that I should put the needs of others before my own and, although I knew I needed to make some changes, I was concerned about being selfish, insensitive or unkind. Elsie helped me to realise that it isn’t necessarily about putting “me first” but could just be “me too” i.e. considering my needs alongside those of others. This made change seem much more achievable. Small changes are making a big difference to my confidence and sense of self-worth which I hope will go on to be the foundations for some bigger changes in my life".

Hi, I'm Elsie

I'm a recovering people-pleaser and Therapist.

For a long time, my life and my feelings were dictated by other people - I didn't know what it meant to do things purely for myself.

It felt selfish and unkind.

I would regularly over-commit myself, only to let others down (the very thing I was trying to avoid) and I prided myself on being flexible and easygoing.

After losing my way a little and ending up in therapy, I slowly learned that there was another way to live.

A way of life that was centred on what I needed and wanted.

...and it didn't involve becoming the thoughtless, hurtful and difficult person I thought it would - who knew?!

My workshops are a first step to discovering this can be true for you, too.

Frequently asked questions

Why did the workshop change from live, to pre-recorded?
I’ve had some unexpected (but positive) things go on in my personal life since organising the date for the session, which means I just won’t have the energy I know I need to run a really great live evening session. The pre-recorded format felt like the best compromise!

Is the content the same?

Yes! it’s the exact same content as it would have been, created especially for this workshop, just pre-recorded instead of offered live.

Will watching the pre-recording be as valuable?
The content of the workshop is designed to be useful whether you're watching live or not. The pre-recorded format means we lose out on the chance to ask questions live. After you’ve watched the session, I invite you to share thoughts and questions with me on email. I’ve set aside some time later in the week to record my reflections in a Q&A style video, which I will email to everyone on Friday 26th.

I'm not based in the UK, can I pay in my currency?

You can - click the 'book now' button and my payment processor will automatically convert the payment into your currency in line with current exchange rates.
