YOU WERE TAUGHT HOW TO BE A GOOD THERAPIST, NOT HOW TO RUN A BUSINESS.
So when you reach the point where you want more financial stability, clearer direction, better marketing, or a way of working that isn’t dictated by how many clients you can hold, it can feel incredibly overwhelming and isolating.

Supervision is there, but that time is precious and centred on your client work. Business coaches are everywhere, but most don’t understand the nuances of therapy.
So those behind-the-scenes decisions sit somewhere in the background, without space to give them the time and thought they really need.

This is where mentoring comes in - a space to focus on the business side of your work - with someone who understands therapy, as well as business.
As therapists, we tend to carry a very particular mix of fear, confusion and self-doubt around business.
You might recognise yourself in some of these:
✦
You want more stability in your income and working life - but decisions around fees, finances and planning feel confusing, uncomfortable and easy to avoid.
✦
You enjoy your clinical work, but you’re reaching the natural limit of 1–1 sessions and can feel the strain of relying on your caseload for your entire income.
✦
You’d like to diversify what you offer - maybe a course, group or digital resource - but the idea feels overwhelming and you’re not sure where to start.
✦
You want to communicate what you do in a grounded, authentic way, but marketing and visibility still bring up doubt and confusion. And more overwhelm!

Mentoring offers invaluable space to think out loud, make sense of your questions and ideas, and explore the parts of your business that feel unclear, heavy or stuck. We’ll get clear on what you want, what’s getting in the way, and what will genuinely support you to move forward, in a way that feels grounded, ethical and manageable for you.

Hello - I'm Elsie
I started my Instagram @boundarieswithelsie (although I had a different handle then!) in 2020, and it kickstarted my path to building the business I have today.
I describe my set-up as successful and sustainable. For me, this means paying myself a consistent salary (and giving myself a pay rise every year), being able to take regular breaks or unexpected time off without debating whether I can afford it, honouring my limited capacity for 1–1 work, and supporting clients I genuinely love working with. It also means having numerous digital products available, generating income month to month.
I have a background in marketing, which has definitely helped, but I’ve also invested in coaching and support from the very beginning. It's made a big difference, and I also often found myself having to translate general business advice into actions that actually fit the nuances of a therapy practice. So when therapists began getting in touch asking how I was doing things, mentoring became a very natural extension of my work. It felt like offering the kind of support I’d always wished I could find.
I love helping therapists find their version of sustainability and success, so the joy they feel for their clinical work is matched by the support their business gives them.

FEEDBACK FROM PREVIOUS MENTEES:
"Working with Elsie made a huge change to the way I view my practice. I was at a point where I had resigned myself to the fact that I would never be able to contribute effectively to my household income solely from my practice alone.
The one to one time was invaluable - having someone take the time to really understand me and my business and the struggles I was facing. The support gave me hope that I can make my practice successful and profitable by stepping out of my comfort zone.
Elsie offered support, challenged some of my beliefs around fee increases and walked alongside me as I made the changes I needed to make. I really valued our one to one sessions as it felt like she was truly invested in what I wanted for my business. If you're needing support I highly recommend you reach out to her!"

"Working with Elsie has been exactly the support I needed in my business.
I was struggling with how to market what I do - how to package my services and communicate them clearly on social media. What I offer isn’t necessarily conventional in the coaching and therapy space, but Elsie very quickly got it. That alone made her guidance incredibly valuable. She understands the industry, understands how I work, and isn’t afraid to challenge me when it’s needed. That combination of real understanding and gentle challenge has been invaluable in helping me get clear on who I want to work with and the kind of work I want to do.

Through our sessions I’ve developed a way of working with clients that I genuinely enjoy and that’s getting incredible results. I don’t think I’d have reached this point without her support.
Elsie's given me the confidence to really go for it - to work in the way I want to, and in the way I know best serves my clients. She has a lovely, reassuring and supportive approach that helps you feel understood and at ease, while still knowing she’ll ask the questions that matter. Combined with her knowledge of the therapy space and her understanding of social media, her support has been invaluable in helping my business grow."

"I reached out to Elsie at a point when my business felt stagnant. I was aware something wasn't quite working, but completely unsure what I needed to do to move it forward. I wasn't new to being a therapist or online marketing, but I struggled to articulate my message in a way that felt authentic. My offering was clear in my mind but translating this online felt overwhelming.

Elsie's unique experience of being both a therapist and having marketing expertise shone through from our introductory call. Her ability to truly understand and listen to my concerns created a space where I felt safe sharing the vulnerabilities around my business. The questionnaire she sent also helped me consider elements I hadn't thought about before - it was clear she'd thought deeply about the specific challenges therapists face when marketing themselves.

Elsie is warm and honest, offering practical action tips you can take away and implement straight away. She was able to quickly identify the gaps in my marketing strategy and, more importantly, why those gaps existed. She didn't just tell me what to do - she helped me understand the psychological blocks that were holding me back, which made the solutions feel so much more manageable.

If you're looking for someone who understands the complex nature of marketing as a therapist - the ethics, the worries about how other therapists may perceive you, finding your ideal clients and enabling your ideal clients to find you - I would wholly recommend Elsie. I now feel revived and excited again about promoting my business, and I'm guided by a specific, actionable plan that actually feels aligned with who I am as a therapist".
